12 Oct Creating an Alter Ego and Setting Boundaries
I know you have been busy – like hair-on-fire crazy busy. It’s fall. Work is crazy busy, kids are crazy busy and Christmas is in like 10 weeks. Sh*t.
Before they cart you off to loony town, this is your reminder that only you can set your own boundaries. And only you will feel the resentment of people who don’t respect boundaries you didn’t set.
Here’s my new favorite trick to setting boundaries – create an alter ego.
Seriously, Beyonce has Sasha Fierce and you need one, too. A stand their ground, we are saying no to that, not feeling guilty for missing out, knows what matters most, alter ego. Give your ego a name, a backstory and an email. Meet Julia, my executive assistant – she just will managing all my incoming communications and emails. Julia is now responsible for setting and reinforcing your boundaries. She is always confident in your abilities and always knows what to say. She’s got this when you don’t think you do.
And the best part is that she’s you – the best, most courageous version but still you.
