03 Aug Boundaries and Breaks
It’s been a few weeks. I took a break from my company over the last month. I still had client work but paused all social media posts, emails and networking efforts. I took a break from focusing on the future so I could spend some time in the present.
I needed it. A LOT has changed in my life in the last few months.
I think it’s natural for business owners and leaders to stay focused on the future. Marketing campaigns have months of pre-planning. There’s forecasting of expenses, revenue, sales goals & staffing. Our lives are planned by quarters and years. And this works fine until life veers you to another path.
My mind was full and my body was empty. A break was necessary to prevent a breakdown. While we can’t prevent re-direction of our life or work or businesses, we can make sure we are in shape to manage it.
Before the summer slips away, before you are back in the whirlwind of fall planning, prepping and doing, take a guilt-free break. Grab a day at the pool, a weekend without your phone, a night of Netflix binge-watching. The work and opportunities will be there when you get back.
